Muriel Johnson, SMISCP, M.Appl.Sc. (SHWW), CMIOSH, MIES
Muriel Johnson (firstname.lastname@example.org) is a Chartered Physiotherapist who has specialised in the areas of ergonomics and occupational health since 1993. Muriel completed a Diploma in Health and Safety in UCD in 1993, a Masters Degree in Applied Science in 1995, a Diploma in Risk Management in 1999 and a certificate in training and on-going education in 2001.
Muriel has considerable experience in the areas of ergonomics in a variety of workplaces, in people moving and handling training at instructor level, in manual handling training at instructor level and in carrying out display screen equipment specialist workstation assessments and display screen equipment ‘train the trainer’ courses.
Muriel is a director of Occupational Physiotherapy Solutions (OPS) which is a specialist company providing consultancy and training services in the areas of ergonomics, people handling, manual handling and Display Screen Equipment workstation assessments.
Muriel was a member of the Health and Safety Authority’s Manual Handling Advisory group which developed standards for manual handling instructor training and people handling instructor training in conjunction with QQI.
In July 2013, Muriel was awarded specialist status of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (SMISCP) in the area of occupational health and ergonomics. This award recognises chartered physiotherapists who have developed specialist skills in their chosen area of work.
The specialist award is based on criteria identified and agreed by the European Region of WCPT (World Confederation of Physiotherapists/Physical Therapists).
Muriel is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, of ‘Back Exchange’ in the UK, of the Irish Ergonomics Society and of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
