Muriel Johnson (muriel@oops.ie) is a Chartered Physiotherapist who has specialised in the area of ergonomics and health and safety since 1993. Muriel completed a Diploma in Health and Safety in 1993, a Masters Degree in Applied Science in 1995, a Diploma in Risk Management in 1999 and a certificate in training and ongoing education in 2001.
Muriel has considerable experience in the areas of ergonomics, patient handling, manual handling and display screen equipment assessments.
She represents OPS on the Health and Safety Authority’s Manual Handling Advisory group which has set standards for manual handling instructor training and people handling instructor training in conjunction with FETAC.
Muriel is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, of ‘Back Exchange’ in the UK, of the Irish Ergonomics Society and of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). She is an IOSH Registered manual handling trainer and Display Screen Equipment (VDU) assessor.
