www.backcare.org.uk have recently revised their publication ‘A Carer’s Guide to safer moving and handling of people and the 3rd edition is now available.
The contents have been expanded to include the latest statistics on UK carers, organisations providing support to carers, as well as basic information on core stability and posture, and national guidance on safer moving and handling.
Additional illustrations are used, including a room by room guide providing tips on adaptions to environment and useful equipment, and some of the new types of equipment now available and things carers need to consider before purchasing equipment. The guide is accompanied by a DVD with short video clips.
The guide will be a useful resource for family and community carers who receive little or no training, and can be purchased through the Backcare website www.backcare.org.uk
