Promoting Safer Handling
OPS design and deliver highly practical, in-house courses to meet the needs of client organisations. Our courses combine theory and practical handling skills and are delivered in a friendly format that is learner centered and relevant to the manual handling activities carried out in the workplace.
The Manual Handling Instructors Course leads to a QQI Special Purpose Certificate in Manual Handling Instruction Level 6 (6S0242). It is a five-day course delivered in two modules over two weeks and is suitable for up to ten participants. We provide this course as an in-house course for organisations who wish to train a group of employees to be manual handling instructors.
The main aim of the manual handling instructor training course is to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and deliver effective training courses in manual handling in the workplace.
The course content covers all the topics required to achieve the learning outcomes in the QQI standard ‘Instructing Manual Handling’.
Course participants should preferably be in a supervisory or management role in their work area in order to have the authority and credibility to deliver effective training courses and to facilitate change in handling practices when necessary. OPS provides manual handling training for organisations who wish to provide relevant training for their employees in the area of manual handling and good back care.
This is a half-day course and is delivered in-house. The course is suitable for up to ten participants.
Hazardous manual handling tasks present a risk of injury, particularly back injury for employees. An integrated programme of risk assessment and training for safe manual handling and good back care will reduce the risk of back injury and the associated costs for employer and employee. OPS consultants can assist employers to implement all elements of this programme and ensure a fit and healthy workforce.
