Office and Workplace Ergonomics
Promoting a Safer and Healthier Workplace
An increasing number of people are working in an office environment using Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
The ‘Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007: Chapter 5 of Part 2: Display Screen Equipment’, requires employers to arrange for DSE workstation assessments to be carried out for their employees. OPS can assist employers to comply with this legislation by providing competent assessors, with a physiotherapy background, who can carry out these assessments and advise employees on healthy and productive working.
Employees who have existing medical conditions, or physical impairments, may require specialist assessments. Our background as chartered physiotherapists makes us ideally suited to carry out these assessments, and advise on equipment, furniture or other accommodations that will assist employees to work comfortably, safely, and productively.
People are increasingly working from home (WFH) which has advantages for the both employee and employer. However, it is important that when WFH people are comfortable and can apply basic ergonomic guidelines to their home workstation set up.
This one day course is provided for companies who wish to train a number of employees to provide DSE workstation assessments in their workplace. This course can also be provided as a 2-day course where the topics can be covered in greater depth.
The aim of the DSE assessors course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out standard DSE/VDU assessments in their workplace.
Course participants would ideally be in a supervisory or management role in order to have the confidence and authority to carry out assessments in the workplace and to effect change where necessary. They must be comfortable communicating with employees at all levels.
Each participant will receive a comprehensive set of course notes and booklets.
