New guidance on MSDs in the Workplace

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive in Northern Ireland have produced new Guidance on the Prevention and Management of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in the Workplace.

The areas covered in this guide are MSDs related to manual handling, use of display screen equipment (DSE) at computer workstations and work activities with increased risk of upper limb disorders (ULDs).

The guide explains the main elements for preventing and managing MSDs in the workplace; including policy, risk assessment and safe system of work plans, training, accident and near miss investigation, Injury management (retention, rehabilitation and return to work), and Internal auditing.
